Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 black tea bags or green tea for a lighter version
  • 1 ½ cups pineapple juice preferably 100% juice, no added sugar
  • 1 –2 tablespoons honey or sugar optional, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice optional, for brightness
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Pineapple slices or mint leaves optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and add the tea bags.
  • Let the tea steep for 5 minutes, then discard the tea bags.
  • Stir in the pineapple juice, honey or sugar (if using), and lemon juice. Mix until sweetener is fully dissolved.
  • Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour if serving cold.
  • Serve over ice with optional pineapple slices or mint leaves as garnish.

Notes

  • Tea Choice: Black tea offers a bold contrast to the sweet pineapple juice, while green tea creates a lighter, more delicate flavor. You can also experiment with herbal teas like hibiscus or mint for a caffeine-free version.
  • Sweetener Options: Adjust sweetness to taste. Use honey, agave syrup, sugar, or stevia. Some pineapple juices are already sweet enough and may not require any added sugar.
  • Fresh Juice Option: For the best flavor, use fresh pineapple juice if available. Blend ripe pineapple and strain it through a fine sieve for a tropical, pulpy finish.
  • Make It Sparkling: For a fizzy twist, replace some of the still water or pineapple juice with sparkling water just before serving.
  • Flavor Enhancers: Add a few slices of fresh ginger or a couple of basil or mint leaves while steeping the tea for an aromatic boost.
  • Batch Prep: This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled for parties, picnics, or summer BBQs. Store in a pitcher in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Chilling Tip: If short on time, use half the water for steeping and add ice directly after mixing with juice to chill faster.
  • Garnish Ideas: Pineapple wedges, mint sprigs, lemon slices, or even edible flowers make beautiful garnishes for presentation.
